Stars Land Three On All-NAC Volleyball First Team

The Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) released the 2010 Volleyball All-NAC Teams with Dominican’s Jessica Guerrieri (Plainfield, Ill.), Darcy Kammeier (Kirkwood, Mo.) and Kasey Kiepura (Vernon Hills, Ill.) all voted first teamers by the conference coaches.
Guerrieri, a sophomore setter, led the NAC in both assists and service aces in her first season as a setter. Guerrieri’s 9.67 assists per set is second all-time on the Dominican University single-season record list while her 63 service aces were tops in the conference and nearly two times as many as anybody else on the Stars’ roster.
Kammeier and Kiepura, both seniors, have been a part of a remarkable turnaround for the Dominican volleyball program, coming to a team that was 0-28 and helping the Stars to their first regular season conference championship in 2009 and first NAC Tournament Championship and automatic bid to the NCAA DIII Women’s Volleyball Championship in 2010. Kammeier ranked amongst the conference leaders in kills and points, averaging 28.6 kills per set and 3.20 points per set, while Kiepura ranked second in the NAC in blocks per set at 0.96.
In addition to the Stars’ three First Team All-NAC selections, Dominican’s Claire Dezelski (Northville, Mich.) was named to the 2010 NAC All-Freshman Team and nabbed the conference’s Freshman of the Year honors. Dezelski, a 5’9 outside hitter, found her groove over the final two and a half weeks of the season, averaging 3.18 kills per set and 2.79 digs per set in helping the Stars to a 9-3 mark over the final 12 games of the regular season and conference tournament.
