The Dominican University women's cross country team continued its strong start to the 2013 running season, placing 13
th at the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcon Invite on Saturday in Mequon, Wis.
Michelle Hall (Omaha, Neb.) continued to set the pace for the Stars followed by a trio of freshman runners in
Jacquie Wallaert (Arlington, Ill.),
Elizabeth Sanchez (Joliet, Ill.) and
Logan Chambers (Chicago, Ill.).
Hall, just eight seconds off her PR pace set last week, covered the six-kilometer course in a time of 24:24 to place 21
st overall.
Wallaert, Sanchez and Chambers continue to improve each and every week. This week the Stars' freshmen trio was led by Wallaert who ran a personal-best 28:11 to place 81
st overall. Sanchez, who outkicked Wallaert and another runner down the stretch last week at Aurora, crossed the finish line one minute later (29:12) to place 87
th overall while Chambers shaved more than a minute off her time from last week, placing 102
nd with a time of 31:01.
Marissa Gray (Elk Grove, Ill.) rounded out the Stars' top-five, setting a personal-best and placing 106
th overall with a time of 32:22 despite finishing the race with just one shoe.
In the men's 8K,
Will Foley (Chicago, Ill.) paced the Stars to a 16
th place finish as he placed 96
th overall with a time of 33:01.
Mykola Fedornyak (Chicago, Ill.), running in his second collegiate race, shaved nearly a minute off his time from last week, covering the course in 35:27.
The Stars will enjoy back-to-back weekends off before returning to the course on Saturday, October 5, when the Stars travel back north of the border to Milwaukee, Wis., to run in the WLC Warrior Invitational.
