Jeff Halter joins the Dominican University coaching staff after logging eight years as a pitching coach and assistant coach at the high school level. Halter helped develop both the Dundee-Crown High School and Hampshire High School baseball programs both advance to the Elite Eight round of the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) state playoffs.

In addition to his high school coaching experience, Halter spent the 2008 summer with the Edenton Steamers of the Coastal Plain League, a prestigious collegiate summer league, where he helped guide the Steamers to a first half division title. Under Halter, the Steamers' pitching staff boasted a 3.69 earned run average in 55 games with a league-best 19 saves and 21 runners picked off. Halter's staff also posted a .252 opponents batting average with 447 strikeouts while walking just 192.

Halter is honored with a Tom House/National Pitching Association Certification, a certification that only 200 others have in the nation, is also a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association. In 2008, Halter was named to the Board of Directors for the Pitch and Hit Club of Chicago and was a finalist for the IHSA Assistant Coach of the Year.

As a player, Halter received an invite to an invitation only try-out with the Milwaukee Brewers as he received all-state and all-area honors his senior year in high school.
