River Forest, IL - After dumping the Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors 16-7 in game one of the two-game season series on Sunday, the Dominican University baseball team fell to the Warriors 4-1 on Wednesday afternoon. Dan Hunoway (Tinley Park, IL) took the loss for the Stars on the mound as he surrendered four runs, three earned, in five-plus innings of work. The sophomore right-hander scattered nine hits and one walk while striking out two. After retiring the first hitter in the bottom of the sixth and the score tied 1-1, Hunoway allowed a one-out double that preceded an error and an RBI single before giving way to the bullpen. David Ershbock (Round Lake Beach, IL) allowed an RBI single and a walk before giving way to sophomore Tim Ridolphi (Westchester, IL) who surrendered another run scoring single before closing out the inning. The Stars offense managed just nine baserunners, stranding seven. Dominican's lone run of the game was an RBI walk by senior Colby Batchelor in the top of the fifth. The Stars, now 13-17 overall and 6-8 in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC), return to the diamond on Thursday when they host the Maranatha Baptist Bible College Crusaders for a doubleheader at Alexian Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. |
