River Forest, Ill. - Despite trailing by as many as ten during the first half, the Dominican University men's basketball team opened the second half on a 12-0 run to take a 45-40 lead over the MSOE Raiders en route to an 83-76 win in Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) action on Thursday night. The Raiders controlled the first half, scoring on the first possession of the half and opening a 10-point lead with 25 seconds remaining in the half. However a three at the first half buzzer by sophomore Darrius Nelson (Michigan City, Ind.) sparked a 15-0 run for the Stars that spanned the closing moments of the first half and the first three-plus minutes of the second half. Nelson scored a game-high 31 points on 11-of-16 shooting from the field, including connecting on 5-of-9 attempts from beyond the three-point stripe.
