Milwaukee, Wis. - The Dominican University men's basketball team dropped to 7-12 on the season and dipped back below .500 in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) on Tuesday night with an 82-68 loss at Wisconsin Lutheran College. It was just the fifth time all season the Stars surrendered 80+ points, with the Warriors shooting over fifty percent from the field (31-of-58) while Dominican managed to shoot just 38 percent from the field (24-of-62). The Stars trailed by 18, 36-18, with under two minutes remaining in the first half, but closed out the opening period with a 7-0 run capped by a Jovan Turley (Grand Rapids, Mich.) three-point jumper, one of four three's on the night for the Stars' junior guard, in the closing seconds of the half to pull Dominican within 11 at 36-25. The Warriors proved to be too much for the Stars to handle in the second half, shooting a blistering 64 percent from the field in the second half (16-of-25) en route to the victory. Dominican was paced by Turley's 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field and also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Marquis Turley (Grand Rapids, Mich.), the Stars' leading scorer on the season at 20.6 points per game, chipped in 15 points while doling out eight assists in the losing effort. RJ Dilay (Morton Grove, Ill.) added a season-high 11 points with Darrius Nelson (Michigan City, Ind.) and Kevin Blackowicz (Mundelein, Ill.) scoring nine points apiece to round out the Stars' high scorers. Dominican will look to snap its current three-game losing skid on Saturday as they travel to Sheboygan, Wis., to take on the Lakeland College Muskies. Tipoff is slated for 4:15 p.m. |
