Box Score

River Forest, Ill. - Lakeland College's Jake Schwarz, the Northern Athletics Conference's (NAC) leading scorer on the season at 24.2 points per game, dealt the Dominican University Stars their fourth straight loss, scoring 25 points, including a tip-in as time expired to edge the Stars 70-69 on Saturday evening.

Dominican took a four-point lead with under forty seconds remaining on a Milos Mandic (Munster, Ind.) bucket. The Stars got a much needed stop on Lakeland's ensuing possession but a turnover gave the ball back to the Muskies who pulled to within one on a three-pointer by Josh Regal. After Lakeland fouled, Marquis Turely (Grand Rapids, Mich.), the Stars' leading free throw shooter, missed a pair of free throws leading to Schwarz's late-game heroics.

Turley paced the Stars' offense in the contest, scoring 22 points on 7-of-16 shooting from the field, going 8-of-11 from the foul line. The Stars' junior guard is averaging 20.7 points per game, shooting over 45 percent from the field and 85 percent from the free throw line.

Sophomore Darrius Nelson (Michigan City, Ind.) added 13 points and grabbed a career-best nine rebounds in the losing effort while Mandic and sophomore Kevin Blackowicz (Mundelein, Ill.) chipped in 11 points apiece for the Stars.

Dominican, now 7-13 overall and 5-7 in the NAC, will return to the court on Wednesday, as they host Benedictine University for a 7:00 p.m. matchup in the Igini Sports Forum.
