River Forest, Ill. - For the third time in eight days the Dominican University men's basketball team has been postponed due to weather conditions. The Stars were scheduled to play at Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) and neighborhood rival Concordia University Chicago tonight at 7:00 p.m. but that game has been postponed and rescheduled for Thursday, February 7, at Concordia Chicago at 7:00 p.m. The Stars are currently riding a two-game winning streak and have won five of their last seven games, including a thrilling 68-55 overtime win over Lakeland College on Saturday. In the win, the Stars outscored Lakeland 13-0 in the overtime as the Muskies went a dismal 0-for-7 from the field in the extra frame. For the Stars, 6'7" senior Mike Haiduc (Chicago, IL) paced the Stars' in the win with 15 points and seven rebounds in 27 minutes off the Stars' bench. Fellow senior Rashim Lettsome (Waukegan, IL) chipped in 12 points with seven rebounds, six assists and five steals while freshman Jovan Turley (Grand Rapids, MI) and senior Jose Garcia (Kenosha, WI) added 12 and 11 points respectively. The Stars (9-10, 7-7 NAC) currently stand in eighth place, just two games behind Wisconsin Lutheran and Edgewood who are tied for third, in the NAC with six games remaining in the season. The Stars will play at Concordia Chicago on Thursday and then travel to Lakeland on Saturday. The Stars will then play their final four games of the regular season at home starting with Benedictine University on Tuesday, February 12. |
