Matt Kochanowski was the 2006 Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) Player of the Year and an NSCAA All-Region First Team selection. On the year he scored a team-high 21 goals, including six game-winning goals, and tallied 12 assists for 54 total points. In 2005, the Lake Michigan Conference (LMC) named Kochanowski the LMC Rookie of the Year as he logged 21 goals and seven assists on the season as a freshman. In his first collegiate action on September 1, 2005, he scored five goals in a 14-1 win over Concordia University Chicago, tying the school record for goals in a single game. At William Fremd High School, Kochanowski was a 2004 selection for the Mid-Suburban League All-Conference Team and was named to the Daily Herald All-Area Team.
