River Forest, Ill. - The Dominican University men's soccer closed out the 2009 regular season with an 8-0 shutout victory over the Rockford College Regents on Tuesday afternoon to close out a perfect showing in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) for the Stars for the second consecutive season. Dominican's Michael Kapusta (Bartlett, Ill.) and Aaron Romo (Chicago, Ill.) tallied two goals apiece in the winning effort while Ryan Roberts (Elmhurst, Ill.), Aaron Brynteson (Chesapeake, Ill.) and Logan Simpson (Morton, Ill.) rounded out Dominican's offensive outburst with a goal apiece. The Stars dominated every facet of play, logging 21 shots, 14 on goal, while holding the Regents to no shots and no corner kick opportunities. The win improved the Stars to 13-1-3 overall and an unblemished 11-0-0 in the NAC. The Stars, the top-seed for the upcoming 2009 NAC Men's Soccer Tournament, will sit idle this week before hosting the lowest remaining seed in the tournament for a semifinals match on Wednesday, November 4. |
