River Forest, Ill. - The Dominican University Stars advanced to the championship game of the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) Men's Soccer Tournament with a 3-1 win over the Concordia University (WI) Falcons on Wednesday. The win marked the second consecutive season that the Stars defeated the Falcons in the NAC Tournament, last year defeating the Falcons in NAC Championship.

The Stars' Juan Saldana (O'Fallon, MO) scored the Stars' first goal, scoring in the 13th minute with an assist from freshman Michael Kapusta (Bartlett, IL).

Junior Plamen Pamukov (Addison, IL) tallied his 11th goal of the season in the 17th minute to put the Stars ahead 2-0. The Stars retained the two-goal advantage into the 47th minute when the Falcons' Zach Jensen scored to pull the Falcons to within one goal. That's as close as Concordia Wisconsin would get as Saldana tallied his ninth score of the season as he beat the Falcons' goalkeeper with a header inside the back post off a cross from Pamukov.

The win was the Stars' 15th of the season, improving their overall record to 15-3-1 on the season. Dominican will return to the field on Saturday as they host the Aurora University Spartans in the NAC Tournament Championship. Kickoff is schedule for 1:00 p.m. on Dominican's West Campus Field. The Spartans advanced to championship match on penalty kicks, 3-2, after playing to a 1-1 tie with Edgewood College through two overtime periods.
