River Forest, Ill. - Dominican University's Elvin Perez has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) College Division Scholar All-America Team. The award considers both academic and athletic success in selecting the recipients of the awards with 24 student-athletes from non-NCAA Division I institutions comprising the College Division First and Second Teams.

Perez, senior defender for the Dominican's men's soccer team, has been to four NCAA Division III Men's Soccer National Tournaments, has been named to four All-Conference Teams, including the 2007 Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) All-Conference First Team, and has been selected to the NSCAA All-Region team three times, including two first team selections in 2006 and 2007.

Throughout his four-year career, Perez anchored the Stars' defense appearing in 86 games and starting 82 games. During that span the Stars posted a 0.57 goals against average with 46 shutouts while allowing just 52 goals.

In the classroom, Perez was required to maintain a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade point average throughout his four years at Dominican just to be eligible for the award. He has been named a Lake Michigan Conference (LMC) and NAC Scholar-Athlete three times and will graduate in May 2008 with a bachelor's degree in business administration with a minor in accounting from Dominican University.
