River Forest, Ill. - The NCAA released the first NCAA Division III men's soccer regional polls on Wednesday and the Dominican University Stars are currently ranked eighth in the Central Region. The Stars, currently 13-2-1 on the season, are unbeaten in the last 14 matches since returning home from a Minnesota road trip on which the Stars dropped back-to-back games to Hamline University and University of St. Thomas. Since September 5 the only blemish on the Stars' record was a 1-1 tie against Aurora University on October 3. During their 14-game unbeaten streak, the Stars have outscored their opponents 49-4 and have posted ten shutouts. In fact, the Stars have not surrendered more than one goal to any of their last 14 opponents and have only allowed more than one goal just once throughout the entire season. Dominican has one match remaining against a team ranked higher than them in the region, University of Wisconsin--Whitewater. The Stars will travel to Whitewater to take on the Warhawks next Wednesday. In addition, Dominican has defeated the only team ranked higher them that they have already played. On September 12, the Stars knocked off Wheaton College 2-1 at Wheaton. In addition to their NCAA regional ranking, Dominican is ranked 11th in the nation by D3Kicks.com and 25th in the nation and second in the Central Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
