River Forest, Ill. - The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) released the 2007 All-Region teams last week with Dominican's Matt Kochanowski (Arlington Heights, IL), Plamen Pamukov (Addison, IL) and Elvin Perez (Chicago, IL) all landing on the North Central All-Region First Team while goalkeeper Piotr Sliwa (Chicago, IL) landed on the Third Team. Kochanowski and Pamukov, both juniors, ranked one and two in nearly every offensive statistical category for the Stars including points, goals, game-winning goals, assists, shots and shots on goal. Kochanowski, a 5'10 junior forward, was named the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) Co-Offensive Player of the Year as he logged 13 goals and 19 assists for a total of 45 points as he led the Stars to a 17-4-1 overall record on the season and a 9-0-1 record in the NAC. Averaging 0.86 assists per game and 2.05 points per game, Kochanowski ranked among the top 35 Division III men's soccer players in the nation in both categories, toping out at 3rd in the nation in assists per game. Pamukov, a 6'1 midfielder, received his third selection to the NSCAA All-Region First Team as he led the Stars in game-winning goals with five. He tallied 12 goals and 7 assists in 22 games on the season. For his efforts, he received First Team All-Conference honors from the NAC. Perez and Sliwa anchored the Stars' defense, helping Dominican post the eighth best goals against average in the country at 0.45. Perez, a 5'11 defender, was named to the Sliwa, a 6'1 junior goalkeeper, started all 22 games as the Stars' goalkeeper, posting a 0.47 goals against average with 10 shutouts. In nearly 2,000 minutes in goal, Sliwa allowed just ten goals as he ranked tenth nationally in goals against average, earning him First Team All-Conference honors. On the year, Dominican posted a 17-4-1 overall record, claiming their second NAC regular season and tournament championships in as many years. The Stars also received their sixth-straight at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championships. |
