April 22, 2009 River Forest, IL - The Dominican University men's tennis team picked up its third win in Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) season as they edged the Aurora University Spartans 5-4 on Wednesday afternoon. The Stars dug a hole early in the match as they captured just one of three possible points in doubles play, winning the #3 doubles flight 8-1 behind the team of Matt Sarantopoulos (Mt. Prospect, IL) and Joe Saraceno (Westchester, IL). The Stars rallied in singles play, capturing flights one and two and flights five and six. Zlatan Hodzic (Chicago, IL) topped the Spartans' #1 singles competitor 6-4, 6-4 while Frank Napolitano (Elmhurst, IL) captured the #2 flight 6-0, 6-1. Saraceno won the #5 singles match 6-0, 6-4 while Marco Colapietro (Norridge, IL) swept the #6 singles flight 6-0, 6-0. The Stars are now 3-4 in the NAC and 3-8 overall. Dominican will travel to Dubuque, Iowa, on Sunday to take on the Loras College Duhawks. The match is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m. The Stars will then close out the regular season as they play host to the Rockford College Regents at Taylor Park on Tuesday, April 28. |
