Matt Mimlitz joined the Dominican University Men and Women's Cross Country programs just prior to the 2008 season. An eight-time letter winner in Cross Country and Track at Elmhurst College, Mimlitz served as the Head Cross Country Coach for Men and Women at Elmhurst College from 1984 to 1988 and as the Head Track and Field Coach at Elmhurst College from 1987 to 1989. While at Elmhurst he was instrumental in starting the women's program and founded the Elmhurst College Cross Country Invitational. In addition, he coached the first individual from Elmhurst to qualify for the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships (1988) and coached two All-Americans, as well as numerous individual national qualifiers and conference placewinners in track and field. Mimlitz has served as a board member for the Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA) amd has conducted youth running clinics on it's behalf. He served as the Interim Executive Director for CARA during which time the organization instituted the CARA Marathon Training Program. An expert in the college transition process, Mimlitz has more than 12 years of experience in college admission at private, liberal arts colleges in the Chicago-Metro area and will bring this experience to his role of directing the Dominican Cross Country teams' recruitment effort. An ordained minister in the United Church of Christ (UCC), Rev. Mimlitz serves at St. John UCC in Naperville, IL and he makes his home with his wife and their three children in Elmhurst, IL. |
