River Forest, IL - The Dominican University men's cross country team raced to a 14th place finish in a steady rain at the 2008 Spartan Cross Country Classic hosted by Aurora University at the Oakhurst Forest Preserve on Friday afternoon.

Senior Dan Humphreys (Geneva, IL) turned in the Stars' top performance. Humphreys completed the men's eight-kilometer course in a time of 31:56.0, for a 102nd place finish, despite splitting time between the university's men's soccer and cross country programs.

Alonzo Banks (Dolton, IL), in his first collegiate race, passed several runners in his final kick to come through the chute in 109th place with a time of 32:56.0.

In the women's race, junior Megan Vaccaro (Owsego, IL) turned in the Stars' top time as she placed third overall at the event and was the top finisher from the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) with a time of 24:11.0. The 4'11" Vaccaro, a two-time NAC All-Conference runner, currently boasts the top time in a 6K event by a NAC runner this fall.

Freshman Katie Kacic (Lisle, IL) ran a breakthrough race, finishing in 71st place with a time of 27:25.0. Her pace of 7:21.3 per kilometer was 21 seconds faster than her pace from the Stars' first meet despite the race being two kilometers longer.

The Stars next race is scheduled for Friday, September 20, in Mequon, Wis., at the Concordia Wisconsin Invitational.
