River Forest, Ill. - The Dominican University cross country teams opened the 2007 season at the Elmhurst College Earlybird Invitational on Friday, August 31. The women's team managed a 10th place finish while the men's team placed 16th at the annual meet.

Sophomore Jeanine Bentley (Downers Grove, IL) paced the women's team, finishing with a 21st place finish in a time of 16:10.60. Bentley missed most of her freshman campaign with a broken ankle. Teammate Megan Vaccaro (Oswego, IL) finished 44th with a time of 16:37.87. Vaccaro, also a sophomore, was the Stars' top runner as a freshman in 2006, placing 12th at last year's Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) Championship meet with a time of 26:25.6 for the 6 kilometer race.

In the men's 6k-race, sophomore Robert Koors (St. Louis, MO) was the top finisher for Dominican, finishing with a time of 22:54.72.
