River Forest, Ill. - The Department of Athletics at Dominican University announced on Thursday, September 14th that it had named former Dominican University student-athlete standout Carlos Carrillo the interim head coach for the Men's Cross Country Team. Carrillo, an All-American athlete for the Stars' men's soccer program from 1998-2001, will take over all coaching and recruiting responsibilities for the men's cross country team for the remainder of the 2007-2008 academic year. Throughout his career as a student-athlete at Dominican, Carrillo scored over 100 goals and logged over 60 assists and is the all-time career leader in every major offensive statistical category including career goals, career assists and career points. He was a four-time All-Conference selection in the Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference and two-time conference Player of the Year. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) named Carrillo an All-American Third-Team member in 1999 and he received honorable mention for the team in 2000 and 2001. |
