(708) 524-6453 Michael Lane led the Dominican University women's basketball program to a 9-16 overall record in his first season as the program's head coach in 2007-2008. The team's nine wins tied the program record for wins since joining the NCAA in 2000. During the season, Lane guided the Stars to wins over Rockford College, who was in first place in the conference entering that contest, and Benedictine University who finished in second place in the conference the year before. During last season, Lane's Stars established program records for points in a season, scoring average in a season, field goal percentage, rebounds in a season and rebounds per game since the Stars joined the NCAA in 2000. While tying the win total from the two previous seasons combined, Lane guided the team to average 67.8 points per game while shooting over 43% from the field and grabbing over 40 rebounds per game. Jessica Salinas, who ranked fourth in the country in field goal percentage, and Lindsey Trent both received all-conference honors from the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) under Lane last season. Lane came to Dominican after serving as an assistant coach to Aaron Roussell at the University of Chicago. During his tenure at Chicago, Lane helped the Maroons to the winningest two-year campaign since the 1989-1990 and 1990-1991 seasons as the program posted a 35-15 mark and climbed up the national polls all the way to the top spot of the USA Today/ESPN poll in Week 8 of the 2006-2007 season. With the Maroons, Lane assisted in the national recruitment of high school prospects, post player development, game planning and scouting. In 2006-2007, Lane helped the Maroons place nationally in rebounding margin (4th) and field goal percentage defense (23rd). Prior to Chicago, Lane helped head coach Tony Siriscevich lead the Francis W. Parker High School boys' basketball team to consecutive league titles and the program's first Regional Championship. Dominican also utilizes Lane's professional experience to fulfill his additional responsibilities with the university as the assistant athletics facilities manager. Lane's diverse background includes a stop in sales with Poland Spring Water, a four-year stint as the managing editor of Team Marketing Report and time as the site manager of Hoops the Gym. Lane is a 1993 graduate of the University of Notre Dame where he earned a bachelor's degree of business administration in marketing. A native of South Windsor, Connecticut, Lane resides in Elmhurst with wife, Jill, son, Ollie and daughter, Sheahan. |
