River Forest, IL - The Dominican University women's basketball team dropped their second consecutive game as they fell to the Concordia University Chicago Cougars on Thursday night 76-59. The Cougars used a 14-6 run to open the contest and never looked back. The Stars trailing by 11 at the half, cut the Cougars lead all the way to one point, thanks to a 10-0 run to open the second half which featured back-to-back three point field goals by Angel Betts (Pontiac, IL) and a jumper and lay in by junior Jessica Salinas (Bolingbrook, IL). However, the Cougars recovered and finished off a 7-0 run of their own to open an eight point lead, 49-41 with under 12 minutes remaining. The Stars never got closer than six points the rest of the way and the Cougars sealed the win at the free throw line, connecting on 11 of 12 attempts from the charity stripe in the game's final one and a half minutes. The Stars, playing without senior guard Lindsey Trent (Frankfort, IN), were led on the offensive end by Salinas's 18 points while sophomore Megan Molloy (Chicago, IL) and freshman Sarah Budz (Orland Park, IL) added 13 and 12 points respectively in the losing effort.
