River Forest, Ill. - The Dominican University women's basketball team ran out of time in their comeback, scoring nine points in the final thirty seconds before falling to the Loras College Duhawks 76-70. As a team the Stars' outshot their non-conference foe, shooting over 44 percent (27-of-61) from the field in the game, but could not overcome 31 team turnovers The Stars trailed by six at the end of the first half, 30-24, behind 11 first half points from sophomore Jessica Salinas (Bolingbrook, IL) and five points apiece from Lisa Julkowski (Chicago, IL) and Lindsey Trent (Frankfort, IN), but could not chip into the Duhawks' lead throughout the second half. Salinas finished with a game-high 26 points while Julkowski chipped in 13 and senior Wioleta Koziol (Mt. Prospect, IL) added 12 in the losing effort for the Stars. Freshman Megan Molloy (Chicago, IL) snagged a game-high nine rebounds for the Stars, but as a team Dominican was outrebounded 49-43 for the game. The Stars return to action next Tuesday, November 27, as they host Beloit College. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Dominican's Igini Sports Forum. |
