River Forest, Ill. - The Dominican University women's basketball team was selected to finish 12th in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Stars are coming off a 3-22 2006-2007 campaign, going 2-17 in the NAC last season. The Stars, under the guidance of first-year Head Coach Michael Lane for the 2007-2008 season, will look to build around sophomore Jessica Salinas (Bolingbrook, IL). Salinas, a 5'10" forward, scored 412 points as a freshman last season and grabbed a team-high 209 rebounds, averaging 16.5 points and 8.4 rebounds per game over 25 regular season contests. Salinas received honorable mention for the NAC All-Conference Team and was selected to the conference's All-Rookie Team. In addition, Dominican returns sophomores Lisa Julkowski (Chicago, IL) and Lauren Ruebe (Mt. Prospect, IL) each of whom started over 20 games for the Stars last season. The Stars also welcome back Wioleta Koziol (Mt. Prospect, IL), a 5'8" senior guard, who started seven games for the Stars and averaged 12.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game before suffering a season-ending injury. Around the team's nine returning letterwinners from last season, the Stars have three new faces on the roster, transfer Lindsey Trent (Frankfort, IN) and freshmen Megan Molloy (Chicago, IL) and Nikebra Goodlow. Trent, a 5'7" guard, was a First-Team All-Region selection at Parkland College last season where she led the Cobras in scoring, averaging 13.6 points per game. The Stars have a young squad this season with just one senior and one junior along with eight sophomores and two freshmen.
