River Forest, Ill. - The Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) named Dominican University's Jessica Salinas (Bolingbrook, IL), a 5'10 sophomore, the NAC Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week.

Salinas helped the Stars to a 1-1 record last week, posting 27.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game while shooting nearly 90 percent from the field. Logging 56 minutes for the Stars last week, Salinas converted on 23 of her 26 field goal attempts and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line.

In the Stars' 77-52 win over Moody Bible Institute last Tuesday, Salinas scored a game-high 23 points, finishing the game with 23 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists. Then on Saturday in an 80-68 loss at Wisconsin Lutheran College, Salinas poured in a game and career-high 31 points on 14-for-14 shooting from the field, tying an all-division NCAA record for field goal percentage in a single game. Salinas also added 10 rebounds in the losing effort, turning in her first double-double effort of the season and ninth of her career.
