Milwaukee, Wis. - The Dominican University women's soccer team wrapped up the second seed in the 2009 Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) Women's Soccer Tournament as the Stars topped the Alverno College Inferno 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Stars' offense, which was blanked by the Edgewood College Eagles on Monday night, exploded for four goals in the first 22 minutes, and five goals in the first half, en route to Dominican's ninth win of the season, improving to 9-2-0 in the NAC. Freshman Kelly Petty (Crystal Lake, Ill.), the Stars' leading scorer on the season, notched what proved to be the game-winning goal in the fourth minute of play. Fellow freshman Adrienne Ryba (Roselle, Ill.) picked up the first of her three assists in the game on the score.

Junior Michelle Reynoso (Burbank, Ill.) logged a hat-trick in the match, scoring in the 12th, 16th and 50th minute of play, tallying Dominican's second, third and sixth scores of the game. Reynoso also picked up an assist in the contest, for a single game season-high seven points on the day.

Rosa Andreuccetti (Elmhurst, Ill.), Mary Hoemeyer (Hazelwood, Mo.) and Liz Phipps (Bloomington, Ill.) capped off the Stars' offensive outburst with one goal apiece in the winning effort.

The Stars dominated the stat sheet on the afternoon, posting 37 shots, 24 on goal, while surrendering just one shot to the Inferno which was saved by senior goalkeeper Jacqui Lani (Green Bay, Wis.). Lani, posting her fourth shutout of the season, lowered her conference-best goals against average to 0.46 in nine conference matches.

The Stars, 9-8-0 on the season, will sit idle this weekend as the 2009 NAC Women's Soccer Tournament kicks off on Saturday. The Stars will host a quarterfinals match on Tuesday, November 3, hosting the highest remaining seed in the tournament for a 1:00 p.m. match on Dominican's West Campus Field.
