Sept. 12, 2007

River Forest, Ill. - The Dominican University women's soccer team stuffed the stat sheet in their first win of the season, an 8-0 triumph over neighborhood rival Concordia University Chicago. The Stars outshot the Cougars by a count of 31-9 and Dominican's Mayra Camacho (Summit, IL) and Michelle Reynoso (Burbank, IL) each logged a hat trick in the winning effort.

Freshman Rosa Andreuccetti (Elmhurst, IL) started the offensive barrage with her first career collegiate goal in the fourth minute with an assist from Camacho. Reynoso netted her first goal of the game in the 28th minute to give the Stars a 2-0 advantage. The score remained 2-0 into the second half but the Stars managed six second half goals, including two by Reynoso, three by Camacho and one by freshman Mary Hoemeyer (Hazelwood, MO) her first goal of the season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jacqui Lani picked up her first shutout of the season, untested in goal for the Stars. The shutout was Lani's 11th of her collegiate career as she set a single-season record with ten shutouts as a freshman in 2006, posting a 0.71 goals against average.

Dominican will return to the field on Saturday, September 15 as they play host to Marian College at 3:30 p.m.
