River Forest, IL - The Dominican University Department of Athletics announced on Thursday that it will begin streaming live video of home events for the 2008-2009 men's and women's basketball season and 2009 baseball season. The broadcasts will then resume in the fall of 2009 streaming live video of all home men's soccer, women's soccer and volleyball matches.

"We are excited about the possibilities presented with the ability to keep our fans close to the action even when they can't make it to a game or match," said Ken Trendel, the university's Sports Information Director. "Fans will find that when coupled with the `Live Stats' that we have been streaming to the internet for over a month now, they can have all of the information needed to follow an event while it happens right on their PC."

In addition to accessing live video and stats, the viewers will have the chance to join an interactive chat room during each broadcast. Viewers are invited to interact with one another throughout the event, providing game insight or posting updates on the action.

"It is our goal to be ahead of the curve when it comes to what we can offer to parents, alums, recruits as well as our student-athletes," said Trendel. "We feel that this is one way we can keep our fan base connected to the university and our department, no matter where they are located. It is not something that all or even most Division III institutions can offer at this time."

The Stars' broadcast schedule starts this Saturday, December 6, as the Dominican University women's and men's basketball teams host Marian University in Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) action at 2:00 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. respectively.
