River Forest, IL - The Dominican University women's tennis team wrapped up the season at the 2008 Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) Women's Tennis Championships at the Nielsen Tennis Club in Madison, Wis., on Saturday and Sunday tallying 29 points for an eighth place finish in conference.

The Stars were led by their numbers five and six singles competitors, Nadia Pencheva (Hoffman Estates, IL) and Rosa Flores (Burnham, IL), who both placed fourth in the conference at their respective singles flights. Pencheva, a sophomore, defeated Marian University's Abigail Kohal 6-4, 6-2 in the quarterfinals before falling to Aurora University's Macey Pruett 6-0, 6-1. Pencheva then faced MSOE's Julie Berg in the third-fourth place match and dropped the first set 7-5 and was forced to retire due to injury with the second set tied 1-1.

Flores, the Stars' entry in the number six singles flight, defeated MSOE's Ashley Blise 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 in the quarterfinals before falling to Edgewood College's Rebecca Chavey, the eventual NAC number six singles champ, 6-2, 6-1. In the third-fourth place match, Flores fell 6-4, 6-0 to Wisconsin Lutheran's Svetlana Bornschlegl.

In doubles play, the Stars' number three doubles team of Pencheva and Courtney Bates (Bolingbrook, IL) finished the season in fourth place. The Stars' duo knocked off MSOE's number three doubles team 8-4 in the quarterfinals before falling 8-3 in the semifinals to Edgewood's Jenny Pietkauskis and Brittany Storhoff who went on to win the conference's number three doubles title.

The Stars, who finished fourth in the 2007 NAC standings, posted a 4-9 record in dual matches in 2008, going 2-7 in NAC play.
