Mequon, Wis. - The Dominican University women's cross country team ran at the Concordia University Wisconsin Invitational on Saturday, led by freshman Jasmine Hall (Rensselaer, Ind.) who posted a personal best time of 24:40 on the 6-kilometer course for an individual finish of sixth while pacing the Stars to a team finish of sixth place. Hall shaved nearly 41 seconds off her previous best 6K time which she posted just a week earlier at Aurora University's Spartan Invitational. In fact, each of the Stars' five finishers at the CUW Invitational posted personal-best times. Senior Erika Espinosa (Wheeling, Ill.) ran to a 27th place individual finish, posting a time of 26:52 while Katie Kacic (Lisle, Ill.) finished just two places behind Espinosa with a time of 27:03. Andrea Rohrbacher (Palatine, Ill.), 27:18, and Gabby Sherer (Bloomingdale, Ill.), 29:16, rounded out Dominican's five finishers with the Stars missing defending Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) Champion Megan Vaccaro (Oswego, Ill.). In the men's race, the Stars placed 11th among the 13 teams at the meet. The men were paced by senior Ernesto Ramirez (Chicago, Ill.) who placed 47th out the 119 runners with a time of 29:58 on the men's eight-kilometer course. Robert Koors (St. Louis, Mo.) and Jimmy Koester (St. Louis, Mo.) rounded out Dominican's top three finishers posting times of 30:22 and 30:57 respectively. Dominican's cross county squads will enjoy a weekend off before running in the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational on October 3. The races start at 11:00 a.m. |
