River Forest, IL - Junior Megan Vaccaro (Oswego, IL) continued her assault on both invitational courses as well as her opponents as she raced to the individual championship of the Benedictine University XC Eagles Invitational on Friday, October 10, 2008. Vaccaro's time of 23:33 over the six-kilometer distance was impressive as it came on a difficult course on a warm afternoon.

Junior Susan Barron (Nequa Valley/Naperville, IL) also claimed place winning honors for her 23rd place finish with a personal best time of 26:40 while freshman Katie Kacic (Tampa, FL) ran to a 40th place finish in 27:45.

Sophomore Erika Espinosa (Wheeling, IL) who finished in 71st place in 29:19 and Junior Melanie Bonifaco (Niles West/Morton Grove, IL) who finished in 85th place in 30:53 completed the scoring for the Stars. Freshman Lubna Saleh (Franklin Park, IL) who ran 31:29, and Freshman Jocelyn Camacho (Justice, IL) who ran 32:40 also competed for the Stars with all of the women with the exception of meet-champion Vaccaro and Kacic running season best times. Vaccaro was just two seconds off her season best and Kacic was returning to racing after a two week lay-off.

The Stars' women finished ninth in the thirteen team field, just two points out of seventh place.

The parade of season best times continued in the Men's 8-kilometer race. The Stars were led by Junior Ernesto Ramirez (Chicago, IL) who covered the course in 29:16 to finish in 50th place.

Junior Paul Gawlas (Forest Park, IL) ran 36:07, freshman Danny Gerger (Forest Park, IL) ran 36:30, junior Joe Piatkiewicz (LaGrange, IL) ran 36:32, freshman Conrad Sewinski (Park Ridge, IL) ran 37:22 and sophomore George Munteanu (Elmwood Park, IL) ran 39:36. The entire men's team ran their season best times with the exception of Munteanu who was just five seconds off his season's best.
