River Forest, Ill. - The Dominican University women's cross country team placed sixth at the 2007 Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) Championship on Saturday, October 27 behind the strong performances of standout sophomores Megan Vaccaro (Oswego, IL) and Jeanine Bentley (Downers Grove, IL).

Both Vaccaro and Bentley earned NAC All-Conference honors for their efforts, finishing in the top 14 at the NAC race hosted by Concordia University Chicago. Vaccaro entered the race with the third-best time in the NAC this season, running a 24:29.00 6k at the UW-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational. Vaccaro finished the NAC meet in eighth place, finishing in a time of 24:46.2 while Bentley returned from injury to place 12th at the NAC Championship with a time of 25:09.9.

In total the Stars placed six runners at the meet with Elise O'Connor (Omaha, NE) and Eileen Eck (Oak Lawn, IL) placing 52nd and 53rd respectively and Megan Benner (Tiffin, OH) finishing in 68th place. Benner's time of 30:32.3 was a personal best for the freshman, more than twenty seconds better than her previous top time in a 6k race. Jacqueline Comforte (Downers Grove, IL) rounded out the Stars' field with a 81st place finish.

The Stars' sixth place finish was three spots better than their ninth place finish at the NAC Championship in 2006. The jump was the largest improvement of any team in the conference in both the men's and women's fields.
